An online information seminar designed specifically for Greeks living abroad will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00 (EET) (11pm – 1am AEST), offering comprehensive guidance on matters of taxation, business, and relocation procedures in Greece.
Organised under the auspices of the Secretariat General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy in collaboration with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), the seminar will be introduced by Maira Myrogianni, Secretary General for Greeks Abroad, and Giorgos Pitsilis, Governor of AADE.
The event aims to demystify the complex processes involved in navigating the Greek tax system, particularly for diaspora communities considering returning to Greece or maintaining economic ties with the country.
Participants will receive detailed information on registration in the tax register, determining and transferring tax residency, and alternative taxation schemes available for individuals abroad.
Further topics will include customs exemptions related to relocation, the management of cash reserves, and a breakdown of income categories and taxation rules in Greece. The seminar will also clarify the taxation of Greek-sourced income for non-residents, as well as the tax obligations on foreign income for Greek tax residents.
Attendees will gain insights into property taxation, online transactions with AADE, and the practical steps involved in starting a business in Greece, highlighting both the opportunities and obligations for members of the diaspora wishing to engage with the country’s economic landscape.
